FAQ

We've compiled these frequently asked questions (and answers) for everybody.

How do I book a court?

Padel Courts can be booked via Booker app (the same one we use for floodlight bookings) or via the court booking tab on www.gmltc.com. If you need help, please contact a member of the committee. The Booker app can be downloaded from the links below.

When you book you will receive an email confirming your booking with a onetime use 4-digit access code. The code will be active 10 minutes before your booked start time.

Members can book 2 weeks ahead of time.

Can I play with non-members and guests?

Yes, non-members and guests are welcome to play. When booking please add the participants as guests. The booking fee for the court will be adjusted to reflect the member and guest costs.

How do I switch on floodlights?

If lights are needed, our floodlight are set to come on automatically when your booked session starts.

Can I cancel a booked Padel session and get a refund?

Yes, you can cancel your session on the app or website up to 1 hour before your booked Padel session, and you will receive a refund of the booking fee.

I don’t have a Padel racket or balls, can I still play?

Yes, the club has purchased 8 Padel rackets and balls, which are in a container in the court area. The equipment is free to use. Please take care of our equipment and replace all rackets and balls into the container when play finishes.

We are working with Padel equipment providers to set up racket demonstrations sessions. These sessions will be advertised to members.

I’m not sure what the Padel games rules are?

The general rules have been posted on the court. Thankfully scoring is the same as tennis!

Will we be able to get coaching?

Yes, there will be Padel coaching, both group and individual sessions. Our tennis coaches will have Padel coaching certification and we are also looking for additional Padel coaches to join the team.

We will be advertising coaching sessions widely as soon as we are ready to launch the programme.

Are we going to have social padel tennis

Yes, we are going to try a variety of approaches to encourage Padel participation. In August we will launch a mixed Padel social evening. This will be a roll up and mix in, like our tennis social evenings.

We are super reliant on having volunteers to help organise ladders or leagues. If you don't see something that you would like to do please, please, PLEASE volunteer.

I would like to find other people to have a go at padel with

We have two active Padel WhatsApp groups – Mens Padel and Mixed Padel. These groups are for members and non-members to advertise availability and arrange games.

We are also using these groups to help share communication about Padel events at the club.

Please contact Ajit Kadirgamar or Amanda Quinn if you would like to be added to these groups.

Will there be opportunities for competitive Padel?

Yes, we are currently exploring both internal GMLTC competitions such as box leagues and tournaments, plus competitive play against other local clubs.

These will be advertised when ready.

Is there a separate padel membership?

No. The membership of the club gives everybody the same opportunities for both tennis and padel. We hope that padel players join our club and take part in our full range of activities.
