Summer Sunday Fun Launched

Dear all,

Winter Sunday Fun Tennis is a great opportunity to play some fun matches in a semi competition format mixing in with other lady and gentlemen members. Each match is only 20 minutes and you play 5 of these in an afternoon with all scores in your team aggregated. It is play to win, but also play to enjoy the tennis and camaraderie.

The question was asked can we do this in the summer too? Well, the answer is we are going to give it a try. Debbie Robertson, who organises the Winter Fun with great success, has briefed me on what is needed and I am going (subject to numbers) to run an event over this summer from May to September.

For those of you who haven’t been involved before, now is your chance! We will aim to replicate the Winter Fun format. This is played on Sunday afternoons from October through to March, where mixed teams of varying abilities play each other in the hope of winning the league! It’s a really fun format and a chance to meet other members as well as to play people of varying abilities.

Winter Fun normally involves about 6 sessions per team, played from 1.00 - 3.00pm on Sunday afternoons. If you can’t play, there is a list of reserves so you can either ask one of them or swap with someone else. You always play opposite someone of your level, and mix with other players.

The timing for Summer Fun doesn’t have to be 1.00 to 3.00 so if you do sign up please add a time preference for the afternoon and we will see what can be done, based on the majority view and court availability.

Please email me or call (details were in the email to members).  All that is needed is an estimate of your playing level based on people that you already play with.  ie lady 1,2 or 3 or man 1,2 or 3 and your mobile number / email address by Sunday 13 April.

If you don’t feel able to commit to being in a team, please sign up as a reserve if you can. If you are a couple and want to play in the same team, please let me know. Alternatively you may want to be on different teams due to childcare or other reasons, so let me know that too. Once I have all the names I’ll then allocate you all to teams and let you know the dates when you are playing. Please sign up ASAP so I can get the lists out and give maximum notice for starting in May.

Do sign up, it really makes for a fun afternoon and a great way of meeting more club members and playing more tennis.
