As a small charity, donations of this size make such an incredible difference to the support we can give to our local communities. Your donation of £3585.57 will help to fund sessions of therapy for people in crisis, that really couldn't happen without your help; you are all truly amazing and making a difference for many desperately seeking help. Here's some feedback we received recently from a person bereaved by suicide:
'I wanted to follow up on this, in the 3am thoughts that come with this new life of grief. (I’m sure you know this all too well). I wanted to say Thank You. We don’t seem to have many more words than that in English to express great thanks, but I need to tell you how immensely grateful I am for the counselling Hector’s House gave me (and my partner though on a shorter time frame). It has literally saved my life. Anna was the best person I could have asked for at that time, and her support was invaluable to me and my ability to survive this'.
Your donation could also help to fund school talks where students could learn more about the importance of reaching out if they're feeling low and how to manage their mental health and improve their well-being. A parent recently commented:
'My son attended the session during assembly at School this morning and I wanted to share my sincere thanks for sharing Hector’s story with the 6th form today. It’s an important topic of discussion for teenagers but one that seems to be hidden away or uncomfortable to face. Unfortunately, we are very familiar with suicide and the devastating impact it can have on families and friendship groups. Given the sensitivity of the topic, my son and I took time to side down and talk through your suggestions and we have created a plan of how he’d ask for help and what resources were available (if he or his friends even needed any help). He had taken the time this afternoon to share the plan with his friends and has reiterated his support for those who need a bit of help every now and then'.
Your donation could also help to fund a well-being talk. An attendee recently gave their feedback:
'I spend a lot of my work and family life looking after others, supporting others and generally just trying to keep everyone else happy. But being able to reflect on the fact that I need to look after myself first in order to be able to be in a good place to support others. The battery re-charging session was good too and I am now going to put some things in places to help with this. I really enjoyed the whole session and it has made me reflect on various aspects of my life. Although I was very emotional afterwards and feel that there are things in my past that I probably need to deal with, I felt lighter in knowing that I have been given some tools and areas of support should I need it'.
Once again, thank you Great Missenden Lawn Tennis Club, we are eternally grateful to you. We would not be able to reach out and support so many without your help. You are our stars; you are helping to prevent suicide and raise awareness; you are helping to save lives 💚
