Coronnavirus Update

Thanks to everyone who has been swiping their club cards to register their attendance at the club. This is still a requirement so unless you are attending a CT coaching session (and will be registered as attending via the CT app) you must swipe your club card (one per household at the club) so that we can comply with the government's Track & Trace data gathering requirements.

The clubhouse remains shut for general member use apart from access to the toilets. However, we are going to open the clubhouse, following LTA guidelines, at certain times to move us a step toward "normal" and help with non-member income as we head toward autumn. These times are the managed "club events" where we can manage social distancing and provide additional cleaning. The events are the current bar opening times (see below), coffee and cake on a Friday morning and Ladies and Mens Night periodic suppers.

Additional signs have been put in the clubhouse for these events which must be followed. The main requirements are:
- sanitise your hands on entry
- the bifolds on both sides will be kept open for ventilation
- only one person at a time at the kitchen counter
- only one person at a time at the bar, and no drinking at the bar
- maximum of 2 households at each table
- please do not move the tables together

The updated LTA Venue Guidelines now allow us to have the benches back on court for rests between sets. They are no longer banished!

Thanks for your help in keeping us and the community safe by following the social distancing requirements at the club as we edge back toward "normal".

Adult Club Championships

The 2020 GMLTC Adult Club Championships will take place over the weekends of 5th / 6th September and 12th / 13th September with the Finals planned for Saturday 19th September. Participants have been emailed the draw and timings directly but you can see the draw via the link below.

This coming weekend the tournament will use the 4 acrylic hard courts and Courts 8, 1, 2, 3 (artificial clay). Courts 14 and 15 may also need to be used if the acrylics are too wet for play. Matches are scheduled at 10.00am and 12 noon this Saturday and 10.00am, 12 noon and 2pm on Sunday.

Please make a note of the above timings if you are planning to come down for a knock this weekend. Easy Like Sunday will need to use the tarmac courts from 9.45am.

Bar Opening Times / Junior Night

Ladies Night bar use has tailed off so to avoid unnecessary expense we have stopped the bar service on a Monday evening. The bar will be open when there is a Ladies Night Supper.

The bar will continue to be open on a Tuesday evening for Mens Night and Friday evening but we will keep use under review. This Thursday will be the last bar service for Mixed Night as numbers tend to dwindle from now on. We have taken the opportunity to boost the club's income by adding a Vinyasa Flow Yoga class with Leticia starting on Thursday evenings from 10th September.

Junior Night starts up again this Friday with coach led sessions between 5pm and 7pm. The bar will be open (and the clubhouse available if cold / wet outside - see the Coronavirus section above) for parents to have a drink while their juniors are on court and for juniors to have a soft drink after playing.

New Term starts 7th September!

We hope you've all been enjoying your tennis through the Summer and since we returned from lockdown.

Enrolments are now open for the new term with Challenge Tennis. Courses resume from 7th September. Get in touch with Chris or Huw, or any of the coaching team, to secure your places.

Outside Clocks

The clock that was on the side of the clubhouse overlooking the 3 clay courts met an untimely demise when it fell off. Two new clocks have been ordered and will be up soon - properly secured!

One will be on the clay court side and the other facing toward the middle of the club. Time keeping shall be restored!

Come and join us!
