Safeguarding

Great Missenden Lawn Tennis Club is committed to prioritising the well-being of all children and adults at risk. We promote safeguarding in our club at all times, including all programmes and events we run. Safeguarding vulnerable children and adults is applicable to all our staff, volunteers, coaches and members. We all have a duty to look out for people who may be at risk.

"Safeguarding" is protecting children from abuse and neglect, preventing the impairment of children’s health or development, ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care, and taking action to enable all children to have the best life chances. It is also enabling vulnerable adults (see the policy document via the link below for the definition of "vulnerable adults") at risk to achieve the outcomes that matter to them in their life; protecting their right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect.

Our Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct policy is available to view and download here: Safeguarding at GMLTC  It is based on the LTA recommended template and in line with national legislation.  The Policy strives to minimise risk, deliver a positive tennis experience for everyone and respond appropriately to all safeguarding concerns/disclosures.

If any member or coach thinks that a junior or adult may be at risk you should contact our GMLTC Welfare Officer who is Sarah Street - welfare@gmltc.com.  You can also use the LTA "Reporting a Concern" form that is posted on the notice boards in the top and main clubhouse.  The Reporting a Concern form is also available on our website via this link: Report a Concern.   In Sarah's abscence contact Roger Hill, Club Chairman, at rogerhillx@yahoo.co.uk,  or the LTA Safeguarding Team whose contact details are provided in the Safeguarding Policy.

Junior specific policies

All members should also read and take note of the following three policies governing the use of our clubhouse changing rooms, supervision of children at the club and our travel policy to away matches for junior members. These three additional policies are based on the LTA templates and help us to meet the LTA's Safeguarding standards.

GMLTC clubhouse changing room policy January 2022

GMLTC unsupervised children policy January 2022

GMLTC junior travel to away matches policy January 2022

In case that a coach or team captain needs to receive emergency contact information and consent for a junior player, we have a form which can be completed by the parent or guardian.

Equality and diversity

GMLTC also promotes equality and diversity at the club. We have adopted the LTA policy which aims to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect and ensure members, non-members and visiting teams are not denied access to our tennis venue because of a discriminatory reason.  The Equality & Diversity Policy can be found here: Equality + Diversity Policy  . If you have any concerns about Equality or Diversity at GMLTC please contact Roger Hill,  Club Chairman, at rogerhillx@yahoo.co.uk.
