Junior News

Spring is coming and Junior Night for under 11's is starting again on Friday 4th March at 5pm so hope you're all raring to go! It is a fun, coach led session to introduce younger players to tennis. Each child will need to have a designated responsible adult on site throughout the session, although the adult can be responsible for more than one child.

Children can bring a friend for a taster but if they wish to continue coming they will need to become members of the club. Barbecues and bar opening will recommence when there is sufficient demand.

Teen tennis for age 11 to 18 will continue from 5-7pm with coach input for the second hour. It’s a great session to meet other players, practice your tennis and have fun.

The Junior Club Closed will be on Sunday 3rd April from 11am. We're aiming for a real festival of tennis so hopefully lots of you will enter as you will get lots of play. There will be food and drink available. Results can now be registered with the LTA and count towards your tennis number if you wish. Age groups will be U12 U 14 U16 U18 - boys and girls, singles, doubles and mixed doubles. To enter email Kim Smith with your name, the events you wish to enter and your partner’s name for doubles. If you haven't got a partner let me know and we’ll aim to find one – kimdsmith9@gmail.com

Ladies Doubles League

The next session of the ladies league starts at the beginning of March and finishes at the end of April, so if anyone is interested in playing please get in touch with Fiona Moynihan -fmwm14@btinternet.com
There are only 3 or 4 matches to play over 2 months; each match is 11 games long, so isn’t too onerous. If you don’t have a partner, then contact Fiona to see if there is anyone in the same position.

Men'sTeams

An update from Scott Harrison - we have a new 2 pair Bucks Shield team for this summer in Division 2. The joint captains for that team are Jon Tracy & Simon Berry. That gives us 5 two pair Bucks Shield teams this summer but we have pulled out of the 3 pair format.

We also have a new captain for our summer A&D 1st team who are in Division 1 and that is Oliver van den Broek.

Generation Tournament

The Generation Tournament took place on 5th February in very blustery conditions. It was great to see the progress the juniors have been making with some very cunning shots developing especially when they were playing against their own parent! Overall winner was Daniel Zaborsky with Elliot Stone runner up. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the tea and cakes at the end! Thanks to all for participating and to Erika for the delicious chocolate chip muffins. There will be another Generation Tournament later in the year. Thanks to Kim Smith for organising this.

Roger's Rag

Courts & Grounds

The top acrylic courts have been undergoing some work recently to remove the puddling problem and should be back in full play soon.

Thanks to all who helped with the post Storm Eunice clear up, litter collection, replacing bins etc.

On icy mornings, it would be great if early arrivers could spread a bit of salt on paths, especially from the car park and around the clubhouse – bags of salt are available and visible around our grounds – thanks to Chris Graham for already doing this.

Clubhouse & clay

Please can everyone make a big effort to ‘de-clay’ their shoes when entering the clubhouse – it makes cleaning easier and ensures that the clubhouse is clean for the variety of groups who use it.

Come and join us!
