Coaching News

Many of you will have already seen the press release from Challenge Tennis announcing the end of the relationship between CT and GMLTC with effect from 1st May 2022.

We endorse the messages in their announcement and thank them for the contributions they have made to us over the seven years in coaching and to the club.

In particular we thank Chris Graham for his enthusiasm, tireless commitment and all round presence with us at Great Missenden. We all wish you well Chris on your next journey and you will always be welcome here.

The club committee considered options open to them and have decided to return to a direct Head Coach model.

We are really pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Fowler as the new Head Coach at GMLTC with effect from 2nd May 2022. Many of you will remember Phil when he spent some time with us a few years ago working with Challenge Tennis and we are delighted to have him return in this new capacity as Head Coach.

Phil’s cv is impressive and here are a few headlines:

• Head Coach at Chalfont (current)
• Head professional at Stoke Park – 2003 to 2016
• Head of Academy at Bisham Abbey – 2016 to 2017
• Federation Cup coach – 2000 to 2002
• International & National GB Team Captain – 1993 to 2003

He has coached at all levels and prides himself on his ability to work with all standards and ages of player.

The committee will be working closely with Phil over the coming weeks to ensure as smooth a transition as possible with the aim of continuity to our members. We will shortly announce the May program but will have the same junior and adult group sessions in May and add new programmes over the summer. As part of this we are really hopeful that Lara Fear and Phil Howes will continue to be part of the coaching team here at GMLTC.

We will provide more details over the coming days and weeks but please contact Roger Hill if you have questions –
